The successful candidate will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Resource Supervisor to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team. 

 

The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing management, execution, and evaluation of support activities within Manitoba and Saskatchewan, ensuring effective and efficient people and process management, including scheduling and timekeeping for various teams working in an environment which fully recognizes the benefits of operating in accordance with quality principles.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your collaborative skills, you will supervise the Resource Support Staff for Supply Chain, Collections, Logistics, Production and Distribution to ensure effective and efficient use of resources in a positive working environment in which staff feel empowered, challenged and engaged.
  • Drawing on your interpersonal skills, you will be responsible for the management, execution and evaluation of support activities ensuring effective and efficient people and process management in areas such as problem-solving processes, coaching, grievances, attendance awareness management, performance management, change management, and identifying and providing training. 
  • With a continuous improvement mindset, you will plan, implement and evaluate changes to processes to improve accuracy, efficiencies and cost effectiveness of daily operations.
  • Using your organizational skills, you will maintain/update written work processes of clerical office procedures, review clerical/administrative tasks related to clinic planning and supply chain operations, and produce reports on statistics, workload, business needs, etc.
  • Applying your attention to detail, you will oversee scheduling and timekeeping for Collections, Logistics, Production and Distribution in the region, and ensure accurate and timely entries for SAP, ESS/AMSR, and Payroll.  
  • Leveraging your communication and relationship building skills, you will support national and regional programs, chair meetings, participate in working groups, and provide backup to the Resources Manager during absences and for LERT (local emergency response team).

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution is required, preferably the completion of a degree or certificate program in Office Administration, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Experience in a regulated and unionized environment is preferred. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English is essential. French communication skills is an asset. 
  • Technical skills including MS Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint and ability to troubleshoot user technical problems for the Resource Team.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution abilities along with interpersonal skills to work with staff and management at all levels.
  • Strong analytical abilities, coupled with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with management at all levels.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and as a team in rapid changing environment.
  • Team building skills including constructive conflict resolution.
  • Passion for achieving results and satisfying the customer.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite, Canadian Blood Services Winnipeg location 50 % of the time Monday to Friday 8-4 with some flexibility. 
  • Travel will be required quarterly - within Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
