About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Supply Management Technician to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West team. 

 

The Supply Chain Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by procures inventory and services for the Winnipeg location and is the contact for all vendors and purchasing.  You will also be responsible for monitoring inventory levels and work in conjunction with the shipper/receiver and is part of the Phase change Material team. In this role you will be working on the frontlines, assisting in the distribution of blood components that provide life-saving treatments for Canadians.   

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your knowledge in using SAP, you will be responsible for creating purchase requisitions for the procurement of inventory and services, validating SAP requisitions to ensure releases are completed on a timely basis, and verify SAP purchase orders for correct quantity, cost and accuracy.
  • Utilizing your problem-solving skills, you will be responsible for investigating the backorder report, blocked invoices, damaged goods, missed packing slips and delayed shipments.
  • With your commitment to quality excellence, you will be collecting information on new products and services for departments, as well as identify material recalls, and damaged or QC rejected inventory.
  • Applying your organizational skills and attention to detail, you will be reviewing inventory quantities and ordering inventory appropriately, as well as maintain appropriate warehouse material levels by establishing reorder points and lead times; you will also receive, log, sort, and distribute /mail within the Winnipeg site.
  • Drawing on your expertise with inventory management, You will maintain inventory control using FIFO/FEFO processes.
  • You will also be responsible for conditioning and maintaining PCM (Phase Change Material) Plates. Specifically, you will prepare, clean, and defrost equipment/supplies used in the process of conditioning/ maintaining PCM plates, as well as monitor temperatures of equipment used in the process of conditioning/maintaining PCM plates and complete weekly review as per work instruction.
     

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of a secondary school program
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Accounting or Business Finance from an accredited community college or academic institution
  • A minimum of two (2) years related working experience within a Logistics environment as a Purchasing Agent or Shipper/Receiver
  • Working knowledge of inventory control using FIFO and.FEFO
  • Experience in SAP or other financial system performing purchasing and/or goods receipt function
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills being able to exercise tact, sound judgement and discretion when dealing will others
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, being able to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities within short time lines
  • Proficiency in the use of personal computers within a Windows operating system using Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm is required

What you can expect

  • The job requires minimum periods {less than 1 hour duration) of sitting, standing and/or walking, with no restriction in movement, lifting supplies and equipment may exceed 10 kg throughout the course of the regular work schedule. Shifts will be Monday to Friday 0730 - 1530. 
  • This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching and lifting for moderate periods.
  • The majority of your work is performed in an environment with the possibility of minimal exposure to noise, temperature extremes, or other physical, chemical or biological hazards. Standard Safety Procedures may require personal protective devices to be worn.
