About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-time Technical Field Support Analyst  to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Operations and Delivery in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

 
The  IT Infrastructure Operations & Delivery team is responsible for managing and maintaining Canadian Blood Services’ IT infrastructure to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of its technology systems.

In this role, you will provide hands‑on IT support across Canadian Blood Services sites and partner hospitals, helping ensure systems that support blood collection and diagnostic services run reliably and securely. You’ll support assigned locations by troubleshooting hardware and software issues, responding to service requests, and supporting day‑to‑day operations.
 
A key part of the role involves supporting laboratory and hospital‑based diagnostic environments across Manitoba. You’ll work closely with internal IT teams and hospital partners to support new implementations, manage IT equipment, and provide on‑site support for incidents, break/fix issues, and urgent changes. The role also includes involvement in project work, user support, and asset management within a regulated healthcare environment.

 

Formula for success

  • Utilizing your technical expertise, you will perform field information technology support for all applicable Canadian Blood Services sites, providing consultation in matters relating to information technology and management. You will be responsible for on-site and remote support of Canadian Blood Services sites.
  • Leveraging your technical skills, you will support and maintain the daily operations and system qualification activities for the IT systems including, but not limited to network and telephony infrastructure, office automation software applications and other equipment software/hardware.
  • Leveraging your coordination skills, you will handle the storage, retrieval, and disposition of records at the site level.
  • Harnessing your skills and experience in IT, you will trouble-shoot, resolve and document problem management tickets.
  • Drawing on your collaboration skills, you will assist head office and IT staff to identify the root cause of technical errors and also coordinate third party vendors/service providers for IT systems and equipment. You will liaise with Head office/IT to ensure resolution of technical issues; coordinates on-site technical support as required and ensures procurement and installation of all applicable Canadian Blood Services sites hardware and software, as per Canadian Blood Services standards and procedures.
  • Leveraging your drive for excellence, you will maintain a current working knowledge and ensure compliance with all relevant operating procedures, policies, and other related documentation pertaining to Canadian Blood Services operations.


Desired education and skills

  • Graduate from a recognized post-secondary Information Technology program. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Relevant certifications such as MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) and A+ Certification are considered assets.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the IT industry, including significant hands-on experience providing desktop support and computer services/support within a regulated environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365 and general networking and Internet principles.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and English communication skills, with the ability to support and communicate effectively with a wide range of users.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, including the ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, systems and IT skills.

What you can expect

  • Lift and move boxes and computer equipment, sometimes over 20 kg, including items on shelves up to 5 feet high.
  • Push or pull carts loaded with equipment, using elevators as needed.
  • Some tasks will require stooping, kneeling, crouching, or lifting equipment for periods of time.
  • Spend extended periods at a desk.
  • Handle equipment, use computers, and complete detailed tasks requiring focus and accuracy.
  • Work in a busy environment with competing deadlines, shifting priorities, and frequent short- or long-term travel.
  • Maintain attention to detail while managing multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
  • Travel frequently, both locally and across Canada, with moderate exposure to hazards associated with ground or air travel.
  • Regular on-site full-time schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00 CDT and/or 09:00-17:00 CDT at 777 William Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba with rest days on Saturday and Sunday. Occasional weekend shifts may be required.
