About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Trainer to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team. 

 

The Collections Operations West team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all Supply Chain training activities within the Region, in accordance with Canadian Blood Services regulations, standards, and good manufacturing practices.

Formula for success

  • Applying your analytical thinking, you will identify staff training needs by reviewing procedures and regulatory requirements, assessing competency gaps, and determining initial and recertification requirements in collaboration with the Resource Manager.
  • Drawing on your attention to detail, you will maintain accurate training documentation, ensure materials align with national standards, organize staff training files, and report on training status and deficiencies.
  • Utilizing your communication and coordination skills, you will deliver and schedule training sessions, collaborate with other departments, distribute controlled documents appropriately, and evaluate the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Leveraging your critical thinking, you will conduct periodic reviews of training status, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) adherence, and non-conformance reports, recommend corrective actions, advise on performance improvement plans, and provide remedial training, as required, to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Using your organizational skills, you will support the implementation of new projects and processes by performing gap analyses, preparing change control requests and action plans, and performing transitional documentation.
  • With a continuous improvement mindset, you will perform procedures to maintain technical competency and efficiency in training requirements.

Desired education and skills

 

  • Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
  • Bachelor of Education or Certificate in Adult Learning from a recognized and accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Certified Training Profession (CTP) or similar certificate is an asset or a minimum of 5 years of adult training experience.
  • ISTP trainer or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a biologics, pharmaceutical, medical devices, or health related environment.
  • Well-developed classroom delivery and facilitation skills with an understanding and application of adult learning principles.
  • Coaching and post-training support with flexibility to adapt to different learners and situations.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be detail-oriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of Canadian Blood Services Collections processes is an asset.

What you can expect

 

  • This role requires in office presence most of the time with the opportunity to work remotely if tasks allow depending on operational needs.
  • Regular shift hours are 0700-1500, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to accommodate operational needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
